VANDENBERG WEATHER WARNING IN EFFECT  

#TeamV Weather Update 📣

After a thorough assessment of current weather and road conditions, Vandenberg SFB leadership has directed two-hour delayed reporting for non-mission essential personnel on Monday, Feb. 5.

🚗 Personnel should plan for a 9:30 a.m. start. Discuss options with your supervisors, including telework, liberal leave and staggered reporting, to ease congestion at entry control points. Please allow ample commute time to ensure a safe arrival.

🚥 Santa Maria Gate will remain open. Lompoc Gate will be open beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 5.

Plan your commute accordingly.

🚌 Vandenberg schools will be closed Monday as decided by Lompoc Unified School District.

🍼🏠 The CDC and Youth Center will be open for mission essential personnel only until 9 a.m. and extending services for all enrolled personnel after 9 a.m.

⚕️ The 30th Medical Group will be open during regular operating hours.

🌬️ **IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE** 🌬️

Due to predicted weather conditions to include heavy precipitation in excess of 2-3 inches and expected winds exceeding 60 mph on Sunday, Feb. 4, Vandenberg SFB leadership has made the decision to implement limited base services for the safety of all personnel.

Personnel are also asked to minimize all non-mission essential traffic on Sunday, Feb. 4.  

 

🌪️ **Prepare for High Winds** 🌪️
- Please take necessary precautions to secure all lawn furniture, bins, and any other items that could be impacted by the high winds. Safety is our top priority, and we want to ensure that everyone remains safe during this weather event.
- Winds are expected to reach speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. Please exercise caution and stay updated on any further announcements or changes.

Here are the closures and changes you need to be aware of:

🚧 ** Inclement Weather Closures – Feb. 4 ** 🚧
- The Lompoc Gate will be closed starting Saturday, Feb 3 and will remain closed until Monday, Feb 5.
- Surf Lanes Bowling Center

- Rod & Gun Club

- Main Fitness Center

- Class Six

- AAFES Express

- Base Exchange

- Vandenberg Chapel will not hold their 9 a.m. Catholic Mass and 11 a.m. Protestant service  

 

*Breakers Dining Facility and the Vandenberg Inn Front Desk will maintain normal operating hours.  For lodging emergencies please call (805) 606-1844.

Tips to stay safe:

✅Stay away from burn scars, rivers, creeks, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Those living in areas prone to flooding should stay aware of changing conditions and be prepared to take protective actions, such as evacuating and sheltering in place.

✅Roads impacted during previous storms may experience flooding, mud and rockslides. Communities along these roads may become isolated.

✅Beaches, bluffs and the Harbor area may be impacted. This storm may trigger coastal flooding and erosion along the bluffs throughout the county. Residents and visitors are advised to stay away from beach areas.

✅Strong winds can cause power outages. Charge important electronic devices and be prepared in case an unexpected power outage occurs.

✅Secure belongings that could get impacted by strong winds such as outdoor furniture.
