A change of command ceremony represents the seamless transition of full authority and responsibilities from one commanding officer to another. As the new commander, Montalvo is responsible for leading a team in a critical mission to defend the homeland from intercontinental ballistic missiles. He ensures the readiness and effectiveness of the ground-based interceptors, manages ordnance chain for warfighters, and maintains the overall leadership, training, and welfare of his team (U.S. Space Force photo by Airman 1st Class Olga Houtsma)
