Space Launch Delta 30 hosted a civic leader tour for Santa Maria community leaders at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif., Feb. 18, 2026, to provide a closer look at the installation’s mission and future operations. During the visit, civic leaders toured launch facilities and met with Space Force leaders to gain a better understanding of how space launch activities support national security.

Briefings during the tour highlighted Vandenberg’s role as a nexus for global space operations, including the command and control of space assets operating around the world and on orbit. Leaders explained that the base works with more than 54 mission partners and supports a wide range of missions, from space launch and missile warning to satellite operations that enable communication, navigation, and environmental monitoring.

The tour helped ensure local leaders have accurate, first-hand information they can share with their communities as launch activity increases. By engaging directly with civic leaders, the Space Force strengthened partnerships, encouraged collaboration, and reinforced its commitment to transparency as Vandenberg Space Force Base continues to expand its space launch and operational capabilities.
