    Royal Air Force Air Vice-Marshal Harvey Smyth, the space director for the U.K. Ministry of Defence, and his team visited the Combined Force Space Component Command on Aug. 17, 2021, at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif. During the visit to CFSCC, Smyth and his team received briefings on and toured the new CFSCC headquarters building, the Combined Space Operations Center and the 18th Space Control Squadron.   • The Newest Branch to Receive CACs

    The 30th Force Support Squadron Military Personnel Flight is now issuing Common Access Cards or “CACs” at Vandenberg Space Force Base for Space Force members. “We work directly with AFPC right now since we are in the baby steps of the Space Force CAC roll out,” said 2nd Lt. Gabrielle Prentice, MPF Officer In Charge. “We make five cards per week until the full roll out starts hopefully in the next couple of months and we’re waiting on word to when that will happen.”

    An operational test launch of an Air Force Global Strike Command unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 12:53 a.m. Pacific Time. The purpose of the ICBM test launch program is to validate and verify the safety, security, effectiveness, and readiness of the weapon system, according to Air Force Global Strike Command. Col. Robert Long, Space Launch Delta 30 commander, was the launch decision authority.
