  • Vandenberg Airman Rescues Veteran from a House Fire

    Airman 1st Class Austin Jacobs has been an installation entry controller for Space Launch Delta 30 at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif. for the past two years. Jacobs’ training as a first responder came into place while visiting his family in the state of Indiana as Jacobs jumped into action to save his neighbor, George Metzger retired U.S. Army on Apr. 13, 2021.
  • VANDENBERG OPENS ALL BEACHES

    Vandenberg officially opened all sections of Surf, Wall and Minuteman beaches Sept. 27. Beach restrictions are enforced annually on all three beaches normally through Sept. 30 to protect the Western Snowy Plover, however all Plover chicks have fledged effective Sept. 16, so per the Biological Opinion and with concurrence of the Space Launch Delta 30 Commander, all beaches will be fully opened and boundary fences and signs removed.

    Vandenberg Space Force Base will celebrate its 2000th launch when NASA Launch Services Program sends a Landsat-9 Earth observation satellite, mated to an Atlas V 401 rocket into orbit on Sept. 27, 2021. “The 2000th launch gives us the opportunity to celebrate the thousands of people from Team Vandenberg, past and present, who share a proud heritage beginning with the first launch in 1958 through this 2000th launch. Space—and launch—is hard. Our record of success is a testament to longstanding mission excellence,” said Col. Robert Long, Space Launch Delta 30 commander.

Vasquez has been a paralegal specialist and the Victim Witness Assistance Program Coordinator for Space Launch Delta 30 for the past seven years. “My job is important because I am the liaison for family members, active duty members and civilians that have zero idea of what the Air Force is,” she said. “I am the one who supports them and guides them through the military justice process.”
