  • Vandenberg AFB awarded $500,000 grant from U.S. Department of Energy

    The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded Vandenberg Air Force Base a $500,000 grant to continue work towards increasing installation energy resiliency and efficiency. Representatives of the DOE met with base energy managers at the 30th Civil Engineer Squadron on Feb. 23, 2021, for a grant award kickoff meeting, to finalize the grant implementation process.
  • SpOC-West personnel support teams win command annual awards

    Following a year of many organizational transitions, the hard-working personnel support team assigned to Space Operations Command (SpOC)-West recently earned two 2020 SpOC awards and will now move on to compete at the Air Force level. On March 3, SpOC headquarters announced that Maj. Richard Hart, director of SpOC-West Manpower and Personnel, won the Force Support Field Grade Officer award, and the SpOC-West Commander Support Staff (CSS) won the A1 Special Recognition Team Award for staff-level support.

  • Vandenberg AFB Hosts “Meet Surf Beach” Community Engagement Event

    Vandenberg leadership engaged with local elected officials, Lompoc Unified School District personnel and STARBASE representatives to discuss the nuances of beach jurisdiction, environmental recovery efforts, and conservational law enforcement as it related to the surrounding areas of Surf Beach. Attendees had the opportunity to share their concerns with base leadership, Vandenberg biologist, environmental education volunteers, and VAFB Security Forces.

    With a Point of Distribution system for COVID-19 vaccines going operational January 2021 at Vandenberg Air Force Base, the 30th Medical Group has since been working continuously to improve their POD efficiency and ease of use.
