  • Innovation Rodeo finalist seeks to increase security officer efficiency

    Staff Sgt. Jordon Varnier, crime prevention program manager for the 30th Security Forces Squadron at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, will have a chance to help develop a more innovative Air Force as he was selected to be one of eight finalists for the 2021 Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center’s Innovation Rodeo.

  • CFSCC JAG selected as AFIMSC 2021 Innovation Rodeo Semi-Finalist

    An Air Force Judge Advocate General officer stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., was recently selected as a semi-finalist after submitting an idea to the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center’s 2021 Innovation Rodeo. Lt. Col. Jason Hull, deputy staff judge advocate at the Combined Force Space Component Command, received notification on Dec. 21, 2020, that his idea was one of only 12 that made it to the semi-final round. More than 400 idea submissions were originally submitted from Airmen and DoD civilians throughout the Air Force to compete for $1 million in funding.
  • Vandenberg Leadership Joins Operation Fight Back

    Base leadership from the 30th Space Wing and Combined Force Space Component Command received COVID-19 vaccinations during their visit to the 30th Medical Group point of distribution, Jan. 8, 2021, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. Since the first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine arrived at Vandenberg AFB on Jan. 6, vaccinations have been administered as part of Operation Fight Back.

  • Space Delta 5 team wins $7,500 prize towards unit innovation in inaugural SPACECOM competition

    A team from Space Delta 5 recently won a substantial cash prize after competing in the inaugural “Develop, Innovate, Visualize, Execute” competition, which is a product of the “Designing Space” innovation event sponsored by Air University in collaboration with U.S. Space Command.
  • Initial COVID-19 vaccinations underway at Vandenberg AFB

    The 30th Medical Group administered its first round COVID-19 vaccinations Jan. 6 at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. The Department of Defense distributed the vaccine to Vandenberg AFB and other select locations as part of Operation Warp Speed, the nation’s initiative to safely and efficiently vaccinate the American public. “It’s a very exciting and historic day that we were able to get the COVID-19 vaccine here,” said Col. Jessica Spitler, 30th Medical Group commander. With vaccinations in hand, the 30th MDG began their part by installing a five-station point of distribution center at the medical facility to begin the local campaign dubbed Operation Fight Back.
  • No donation is too small; VAFB supports CFC

    Each year, federal employees and retirees donate to different charities and causes around the world by giving to the Combined Federal Campaign. According to the official website, the CFC has raised more than $8.4 billion since its creation in 1961 and is the world’s largest annual workplace charity campaign.
  • Major General Burt visits the Armed Forces Bowl

    Maj. Gen. DeAnna Burt, Combined Force Space Component Command commander, met with a group of future Airmen and also administered the oath of enlistment to a group of future Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Dec. 31, 2020, during a visit to the Armed Forces Bowl, held at Texas Christian University.
  • Vandenberg Milestones – the year of Space Force

    Vandenberg Air Force Base recently commemorated the first birthday of the United States Space Force by sealing a time capsule filled with mementos marking the many milestones USSF and Vandenberg AFB made in the year 2020. The time capsule project was presented to members at Vandenberg AFB and community leaders by Col. Anthony Mastalir, 30th Space Wing commander, during a USSF birthday cake cutting ceremony on Dec. 11, 2020.
