  • Vandenberg SFB Leave Policy (18 Mar 20)

    On 13 March 2020, the Deputy Secretary of Defense issued a Stop Movement Order applicable to various aspects of military and civilian travel, effective 16 March 2020 (Atch 1). All personnel on Vandenberg SFB are directed to comply with all aspects of this order. This memorandum remains in effect until rescinded or superseded by higher authority. The order directs that military members are authorized only local leave, in accordance with Service policies. Effective immediately, the boundaries for the local area of Vandenberg SFB is defined as: San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.     Vandenberg Space Force Base is seeking volunteer docents for the 2020 western snowy plover breeding season to assist in balancing wildlife protection and visitor recreation. Docents specifically help to protect the threatened western snowy plover from disturbance during the nesting season and create awareness among beach visitors.

    The Space Launch Delta 30, Vandenberg's host unit, supports West Coast launch activities for the Space Force, Department of Defense, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, national programs and various private industry contractors. The Delta supports the processing and launch of a variety of expendable vehicles including Atlas V, Delta IV, Delta II, Pegasus, Minotaur, Taurus and Falcon. The Delta also supports Force Development and Evaluation of all intercontinental ballistic missiles, as well as Missile Defense Agency (MDA) test and operations.
